Since the event of Gmail server outage, yesterday, I tried to search for the reason of the outage, but couldn't find out anything good reason. Anyway during that period, I have discovered an interesting Gmail utility. This software program (named "Gmail-Backup") is not created by Gmail or Google - so I cannot sure about its reliability.
Gmail-Backup is developed by 2 programmer, and it is currently free-of-charge, and can work for Windows, MAC and Linux too. Just that any email download/backup into the local harddisk will be in not in encrypted format. Each individual email is saved into a filename with extension .eml - so, Outlook Express and many other email clients can open those files.
Note: The IMAP access must be enabled for any Gmail account before executing Gmail-Backup.
Alternatively, We may also try to backing up our emails to your computer with Thunderbird, Fetchmail or Getmail.
