Change selected image color to be transparent

Today blog is about how to remove the color (eg. background white color) to become transparent, then save the image as GIF format - which can handle transparency.

1. Run GIMP software (can be downloaded from www.GIMP.org)
2. Open the image, press Ctrl+L (to open Layers windows)
3. At the Layers window, select the layer and choose "Add Alpha to Channel"
4. Use any selection to select your required color region.
5. Click drop-down menu Edit -> Clear
6. Then you can save this file as GIF format
